       From 20th March - 24th April 2023, the program of equipping basic knowledge for adolescents and students about first aid skills, reproductive health care and nutrition was held at some high schools, Vocational Education Centers, and Continuing Education Centers in Nam Dinh province by NDUN Youth Union - Student Association, Enrollment Board in coordination with Nghia Hung, Nam Truc, Truc Ninh District Youth Unions.

 

       The program helps students in their teenage with many physiological and psychological changes improve their knowledge, life skills, self-care and self-protection skills; control of sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/AIDS...; understand reproductive health care, sexual health and nutritional health as this is the stage that marks the development of necessary skills for children to enter adulthood.

       At the program, the propaganda, exchanges, questions & answers, direct consultation... helped students learn about the importance of educating sex, preventing sexual abuse and protecting adolescent reproductive health; new, scientific methods in preventing gynecological diseases; methods to prevent unwanted pregnancy in adolescents... The content is presented in a simple, easy-to-understand manner that attracted the attention of students and created an open and friendly atmosphere for students so that they could ask questions freely and confidently about gender, friendship, love, sexuality, sexual abuse prevention, pregnancy prevention, and prevention of communicable diseases through sex, nutritional health during the exam.

       Through the program, students learned a lot of knowledge about adolescent reproductive health, which plays an important role and greatly affects their family life in the future. It also helped them prepare well about reproductive health issues when they are at schools.

    According to UNICEF Survey data in 2021, in Vietnam, the rate of young men having sex before the age of 15 is 0.2%. This rate is higher in young girls, about 0.9%. About 8.9% of girls aged 15-19 have had sex with a partner 10 years older than them. Survey results of the General Statistics Office shows that, among 300,000 abortion cases published in Vietnam, about 60 - 70% of abortion cases are for girls aged 15 - 19 years old.

 

        According to experts, one of the main causes is teenagers' lack of understanding. They access to misleading information and have inadequate education that lead to unfortunate consequences. Therefore, communication and education about reproductive and sexual health for this group is becoming more important and urgent than ever. This is considered a preparation step to help them raise awareness and have proper behavior about friendship and love and form necessary life skills, be aware of their own value in relationships, understand their physical and mental health to have more appropriate behavior and habits. ..
